This year’s OeAD University Conference 2025 was held under the motto “University and the World of Work – Global Perspectives,” a topic that is particularly relevant to us as a university of applied sciences and EU4Dual.

On November 26 and 27, more than 200 representatives from the Austrian higher education landscape and industry came together to examine key issues at the interface between higher education and the world of work in an international context. Among other things, the focus was on how internationally oriented models of cooperation between universities and the world of work can contribute to the successful integration of graduates into society and the labor market. In addition, special attention was paid to the role of universities as drivers of innovation and as bridge builders between science, business, and the international world of work.

The “founding father” of our dual study programs, Georg Wagner, and our new EU4Dual Business Outreach Coordinator, Lydia Tropper, shared their insights in an input lecture on the topic of “Global Cooperation for Tomorrow: How universities and companies are shaping the future together”.  Particular attention was paid to expectations of cooperation models and how these can be strategically developed further. The international dimension also played an important role: What opportunities do international collaborations between universities and companies open up for students, companies, and regions?

We would like to thank the OeAD for inviting us to speak and are delighted by the lively interest in this session, which will play an important role for the further development of European University Alliances in the future.
