🎓 This is what I studied:

My job: Interdisciplinary Illustrator in Berlin, Germany

About my job

My job is very diverse. I work on campaigns with major clients, paint walls in offices for small start-ups, and create animations for music videos. The fields of application vary greatly, but the style always remains the same. That is what defines me and my work. Over the years, I have managed to develop a unique style and establish it with clients.

In recent years, my work has been very commercial, and now I would like to immerse myself more deeply in the field of art. Of course, I also need commercial projects to finance my life, but meaningful content should not be neglected. I try to address these important topics through my art.

What I do:

  • Digital 2D and 3D illustration
  • 2D and 3D animation
  • Murals / wall design

Why I love my job:

  • Living out my own style
  • Engaging with new technologies and trends and constantly learning
  • Creative work in general

What I don’t like so much about my job:

  • Budget negotiations and delayed payments / payment reminders
  • Bureaucracy and tax-related issues
  • Constant planning, answering emails, and structuring my work

Important skills in my job:

  • Ability to accept criticism
  • Spontaneity
  • Reliability

My greatest achievement so far:

My absolute favorite project to date is still the one for The Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn, NYC. I painted a total of three walls in the entrance area.

How I got this job:

It was one of my first projects. I actually got it through an unsolicited application—simply by reaching out and offering my work.

What I learned during my studies that helps me in this job:

Personally, learning the standard Adobe Suite programs helped me a lot. I use them in every project—whether it’s wall design or 3D animation. Of course, you always have to keep learning and adapt to each job, but the basic knowledge was taught to me at university, and that was essential.

Job opportunities in my field:

I believe there are definitely many job opportunities. However, for newcomers it is important to know which style you represent and whether there is a target audience for it—and if so, where. I didn’t see any opportunities for my style in Graz, but in Berlin it works very well. Once these factors are considered, hard work, ambition, and above all perseverance will lead you to the right jobs.

I am:

  • ambitious
  • reliable
  • determined
  • courageous
