Fields of Expertise

Sustainable (Health) Tourism

The research team at the Institute of Health and Tourism Management uses scientific methods to manage, analyse and devise sustainable tourism projects in communities, regions and health tourism establishments. Health tourism is an increasingly important factor in businesses operating at the interface between health, leisure and management. Customer structures, supply and stakeholder analyses are conducted according to our clients’ requirements. These provide the basis for developing science-based concepts in fields including corporate social responsibility and quality management.

The tourism and leisure industry increasingly permeates all areas of life and leads to changes in lifestyle. This shift presents the economy with new challenges. The booming health tourism market and the wellness market with its spas and spa hotels demonstrate this development.

As Austria’s market leader in health tourism research, the Institute of Health and Tourism Management offers its clients extensive experience and comprehensive expertise in the sector. Our project work is based on methodological expertise, an established knowledge base, and expertise in the sustainable development of tourism. A variety of tried and tested tools are applied, including profitability and status analysis, business appraisals, and customer structure and stakeholder analyses.

The experts at the Institute assist tourism and leisure operators, such as spas and sports centres, by developing quality management systems, and help regions and communities in sustainable destination development. The development of training measures for people employed in the tourism and leisure industry completes the research portfolio.
