International applicants from EU/EEA countries and Switzerland

Application deadline

The application deadlines specified by your chosen degree programme also apply to international applicants from EU/EEA countries and Switzerland.

Complete application documents and admission requirements

Please submit your letter of motivation, CV, proof of citizenship or copy of passport, proof of sufficient proficiency in the language of instruction (where this is not your native language) and evidence of previous education by the respective application deadline, including the necessary translations and legalisations. Applicants to the Information Design or Industrial Design programme must additionally submit a collection of work samples. Your application can only be considered when these requirements are met.

The deadline for submitting your secondary school leaving certificate and final school report or proof of university entrance qualification or any additional examinations is the beginning of the programme. You are requested to provide proof of previous education by submitting your last semester or annual report so that we can check that you meet the admission requirements.

Students from EU countries, the EEA and Switzerland will pay a tuition fee of €363.36 per semester.

The Student Union fee (ÖH-Beitrag) must be paid to FH JOANNEUM each semester. You will be provided with the relevant information at the beginning of your studies.

In principle, the same requirements apply to you as to Austrian students. All applicants have an equal chance of being accepted onto a programme. The requirements applicable to your chosen degree programme are published on the respective programme webpage under “Admissions” and “International Applicants” in the “Application Requirements” section.

I have a German higher education entrance qualification for university of applied sciences. Will I be admitted to the degree programme?

You will be admitted to study with a German higher education entrance qualification for university of applied sciences (Fachhochschulreife) if you can also prove a relevant professional qualification and show that you have passed specified additional examinations.

You can find information on the relevant professional qualification with additional examinations in the “Application Requirements” section on the respective programme webpage. You will receive more detailed information when your application has been received in full.

The motivation letter or application and the CV must be submitted in the language of instruction of the degree programme. All other application documents (exception: copies of original documents) can be submitted in either English or German. See “Admissions” in the “Application Requirements” section of the respective programme webpage for information about the documents you need for your application and the steps you must take to apply.

Note

Specific rules apply for non-Austrian documents. Your application can only be accepted when these rules have been met. The rules will vary depending on the country in which the documents were issued. See: Legalisation and translation guidelines by country.

You should also upload copies of all certificates and documents required for verification of admission requirements in the original language when applying online. Please do not send original documents.

You will go through the same admissions procedure as Austrian applicants and will be informed of the outcome once the process is complete.

Tip

It will take some time to review your international documents. You should therefore submit your documents no later than 14 days prior to the application deadline.
