The assessment was conducted by an international team of two EFQM assessors and took place over three intensive days at FH JOANNEUM Graz, combining on site and online formats. It included a comprehensive review of EU4Dual’s strategy, governance, organisational culture, performance management and stakeholder engagement, supported by interviews and exchanges across the alliance.
Nine voices, one direction
A central strength highlighted during the assessment was EU4Dual’s ability to align nine independent universities across nine national systems under a single, shared direction. The assessors recognised this governance model as a rare organisational capability at European level, enabling trust, transparency and effective decision making at scale.
Through clearly defined governance structures and the permanent institutionalisation of the alliance, EU4Dual has created a strong foundation that ensures stakeholder voices are not only heard, but actively embedded in shaping strategic direction. This alignment — nine voices, one direction — was identified as a key driver of EU4Dual’s performance, maturity and long term sustainability.
Excellence rooted in purpose and sustainability
The assessment further confirmed EU4Dual as a purpose driven and entrepreneurial organisation, going beyond compliance to create sustainable value. Particular strengths were identified in the alliance’s commitment to sustainability, innovation and societal impact, as well as in its transparent performance management and shared quality culture.
Achieving the 4★ EFQM recognition represents a significant milestone for EU4Dual. It confirms the strength of the alliance, the dedication of its people, and the shared ambition to shape the future of dual education in Europe through quality, collaboration and sustainable performance.
EU4Dual would like to sincerely thank all colleagues, partners and participants who contributed to the assessment process through their preparation, engagement and openness. This achievement is the result of a truly collective effort across the alliance.
