Streetlight in cooperation with the City of Graz
Too much artificial light suppresses the production of the sleep hormone melatonin, which disrupts people's internal clock. This in turn can lead to sleep disorders or depression. In addition, 70 % of all streetlights are only used for an average of 10 % of the time they are switched on. The heart of the concept is the light source itself.
The innovative "Digital Matrix LED" technology was applied, in which a light source is bundled via optics and falls onto a DMD chip. This creates a precise light cone and thus reduces light contamination to a minimum. In this way, an almost infinite number of light distributions can be realized while generating the ideal light for every road condition.
