‘Other Options’ is a public platform that aims to counteract the problem of excessive smartphone use with products that can be manufactured in-house. The three products presented pursue the goal of reducing smartphone use.
The case serves as a hardware-based focussing of the functions of a smartphone, which is simply cut to fit the phone using a printer and scissors. The Companion Device encourages people to discover new things musically based on a self-built soldering project. And the Sweater Bag is a low-waste item of clothing that can be made in a few simple steps without a sewing machine and safely stores valuables. These different, very personal ways of doing things show a new kind of support that can be realised individually and independently.
