Sprout / Active Table

Master‘s Thesis in cooperation with Phoenix Design, Germany. Second Prize James Dyson Award 2025

Sprout, an interactive activity table, introduces children to healthy eating in a playful way—through practical experiences and creative learning. Metka Antolic’s master’s thesis on the project won second prize at the James Dyson Award 2025.

Disconnection from natural foods and unhealthy eating habits is one of the biggest challenges of our time. Establishing a foundation for healthy eating behavior in childhood shapes attitudes toward food in adulthood.

Sprout is an interactive activity table that introduces children to healthy eating in a playful way.

The modular system includes a table, trays, containers, and activity cards that support teachers in nutrition education. Through hands-on food preparation, children discover natural processes, overcome reluctance to try new foods, and develop an understanding of the cultural and ecological importance of nutrition. Sprout fosters creativity, collaboration, and independent thinking, creating a vibrant and adaptable learning environment.
