Absolute perfection is the declared goal in many areas of life, including art and design. Especially in the field of design however, the declared goal should rather be imperfection, in accordance with the creed Perfection Is Boring. ‘Know the rules in order to break them’, they say.
It is a plea for more imperfection, because as lateral thinkers and nonconformists, designers should be encouraged to achieve awareness and relevance by being different in a world where one perfect visual impression is chasing the other. Photo compositions which show everyday objects in an altered, imperfect state, and in this way exert an increased visual appeal, complement this thesis in an easily accessible and humorous way.
