Profile

Florian Singer completed his master's degree in sociology at the University of Graz. His master's thesis, ‘Children of Suburbia?’, dealt with migration from structurally weak regions of eastern Styria and its social impact on rural areas.

He gained scientific experience in research projects on urban mobility and the situation of nursing home residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also worked for three years in research funding at the University of Graz.

Since 2023, Florian Singer has been a research assistant at the Institute for Social Work at FH JOANNEUM, where he is involved in research and teaching. His research interests lie in social science security and disaster research, particularly in the analysis of vulnerable target groups from an intersectional perspective, as well as in issues of accessibility and awareness.

In addition to his academic work, he is a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and first aid instructor with the Graz City Red Cross.
