Robert Singer

Robert Singer graduated in physics from the University of Graz and subsequently worked as a research assistant and lecturer at the Institute of Experimental Physics, conducting research on the optical properties of discontinuous metallic films and on high-temperature superconductors. He completed his doctorate in physics in 1991 at the institute's Department of Quantum Optics with a dissertation on the optical properties of discontinuous metallic films ("Optische Eigenschaften diskontinuierlicher metallischer Filme").

In 1992 he established himself as a self-employed management consultant and consulting engineer. From 1994 he was Senior Consultant for productivity improvement and quality management at an international corporation in Vienna, applying quantitative and engineering methods in industrial settings, and from 1996 head of department for logistics and production at the same corporation in Hungary. From 1999 to 2006 he served as managing director of several companies in Austria and Hungary.

Since 2007 he has been Professor at FH Joanneum, teaching computer science and business fundamentals, with complex systems as his main research area. Alongside his professorship, he continues to run the engineering consultancy for applied physics he founded in 1992; in this independent capacity, his current research focuses on analytical mechanics and the foundations of classical mechanics.
