Profile

Dr. Ursula Lagger studied History as well as Applied Cultural Studies and Cultural Management at the University of Graz. She is Lecturer (FH) at the Institute of Design and Communication at FH JOANNEUM, where she teaches in the degree programs Information Design (Bachelor), Exhibition Design (Master), and Communication, Media, Sound and Interaction Design (Master).
In her teaching, she combines theoretical knowledge with practical application and fosters a critical understanding of design as a cultural practice within its societal context. Her teaching focuses include design history, cultural studies, media theory, user experience design, exhibition evaluation, as well as academic writing and research methods. She is also involved in international (EU) projects dedicated to developing and testing innovative teaching and learning scenarios.
Beyond teaching, she is active in both research and practice: she curates exhibitions, delivers academic lectures, and regularly publishes on topics at the intersection of design, history, and visual culture. Her many years of experience as a lecturer at the Institute of Ancient History at the University of Graz add an interdisciplinary dimension to her work. Her research interests range from museum studies and visual cultures to the communication of scholarly knowledge through exhibitions, presentations, and educational collaborations.
