The course content includes the practical application and analysis of technologies such as photovoltaics (diagnosis U-I measurement, infrared diagnosis, drone flights), sound level measurements, hybrid systems (integration of electric heating rods, solar thermal energy, heat pumps and storage) and the implementation of an energy audit (EN16247, ISO50001). Measurements and evaluations are carried out to determine the performance of these systems under realistic conditions. Practical exercises deepen the understanding of the use of simulation software and measuring instruments. Finally, the activities and findings are scientifically documented, with a particular focus on error calculation. In addition, sound level measurements are carried out in the form of point and line sound sources.

In this lecture, the knowledge already acquired about load profiles and residual loads is deepened with practical examples. Duration curves are discussed, whereby characteristic values such as base load, peak load and load gradient are worked out for different technologies, as well as dispatching and load distribution in decentralised energy supply systems. The planning of energy systems for single-family homes, apartment blocks and industrial companies is consolidated using practical examples. Energy supply components such as PV systems, battery storage, hot water supply, heating systems and e-mobility charging infrastructure are dimensioned. An overview of the energy community rounds off this lecture.

SWS

This course offers students insights into the dynamic changes in the mobility landscape and their far-reaching effects on society, the environment and the economy. Participants examine the driving forces behind these changes, including urbanisation, digitalisation, climate change and demographic developments. The course combines theoretical approaches with practice-oriented projects that enable students to develop strategies for adapting to and shaping sustainable mobility transformations. By analysing current trends and challenges in mobility, students learn how these developments can influence the planning and implementation of effective transport systems. They develop solutions that take both ecological and social aspects into account and thus contribute to the development of sustainable mobility concepts.

Identification and evaluation of industrial efficiency measures from both a thermal and electrical point of view. To this end, methods for efficiency measures are discussed and applied to examples with a high degree of realism. These include optimisations at the process and production technology level, the use of BAT&BREF specifications, the basics of using heat and heat exchanger systems (pinch analysis), lighting optimisation and the optimisation of existing and future supply technologies. In addition, industrial buildings are evaluated and applications such as infrared diagnostics are used to diagnose losses. Real examples from industry will be incorporated and jointly developed and evaluated. The lecture is rounded off by an introduction to national and international guidelines, audit standards, reporting, influencing industrial mobility and the effects on environmentally relevant assessments.
