Requirements

To graduate from your degree programme, you must:

  • successfully complete all the classes
  • produce a diploma thesis which must receive a pass mark
  • pass the diploma examination

Your title on graduation will be “Dipl.-Ing. or DI – Diplomingenieur / Diplomingenieurin für technisch-wissenschaftliche Berufe”.

Master’s thesis

Students can suggest a subject-specific topic for their diploma thesis. A pool of topics is also available from the degree programme itself; frequently making it possible for students to opt to work on research questions for the Institute as part of their diploma thesis. In addition to this, firms from the construction industry, construction management or the public sector often approach the degree programme with practice-oriented topics. The diploma thesis is supervised by course lecturers.

Master’s examination

After the third semester, following successful completion of all the subjects of the curriculum, the student sits the diploma examination, which is an examination in front of an examination board made up of relevant experts in the field. It comprises the following parts:

  • presentation of the diploma thesis in English
  • oral examination on the interconnections of the topic covered by the diploma thesis to the relevant subject areas of the curriculum
  • oral examination on other content relevant to the course
