Semester abroad

There is an opportunity to spend a semester studying abroad in the third semester of the course. The head of degree programme supports this by encouraging close cooperation with several partner universities which are prepared to take our students as part of an exchange programme.

The usual practice is that students prepare their diploma thesis during their semester abroad and engage with problems of building technology in the host country – often comparing them with the situation in Austria.

How does it work?

The semester abroad is supported by the Erasmus Programme in the case of European universities and by the Marshall Foundation for American universities. In either case, the application must be reviewed and approved by the head of degree programme.

Partner universities

The partner universities involved in the Construction Management and Engineering degree course all have a similar programme to FH JOANNEUM in terms of their technical orientation. Our students are adequately equipped linguistically to cope with their time abroad, particularly in the UK and in other English-speaking countries including the United States.
