Andreas Kemperle

My internship at NXP Austria GmbH.

Job description: Validation engineer

Company: NXP Austria GmbH

Place: Gratkorn, Austria

I complete(d) my internship from March 2019 to August 2019

What I do/did:

  • Extend existing measurement programs
  • Increase modularity and re-usability of measurement procedures
  • Parallelise processes

Why I enjoy(ed) my internship:

  • Good working environment and collaboration/teamwork
  • Further training options
  • Acquiring all kinds of experiences
  • New tasks and challenges

What I learned:

In addition to personal development, I was also able to acquire additional knowledge in the field of programming, in particular in relation to the TestStand and LabVIEW programs.

My biggest success / My greatest experience:

Before I came to NXP, I had no knowledge of TestStand at all. For this reason, the feeling of success was even greater when I managed to get several measuring devices to carry out automated measurements in parallel.

How I secured the internship:

I got to know the company at the Future Engineers 2017 career fair at FH JOANNEUM and came across this internship thanks to my supervisor, Wolfgang Rominger. He sparked my interest in LabVIEW as part of lab sessions in industrial automation. After paying a visit to NXP, it became clear to me: this would be my future place of work.

What I want to do in the future:

My next step is to complete the Master’s degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering at FH JOANNEUM in Kapfenberg. Since I have really enjoyed my internship so far and feel very much at home at NXP, it is likely that the company will continue to be part of my studies. I commute each day from my home town of St. Peter-Freienstein in the district of Leoben to NXP in Gratkorn. I am happy to do this commute because I can work on innovations of the future at NXP.
