This thesis deals with contemporary exhibition design in interim utilisation. It starts with a theoretical look at the basics of exhibition design. It deals with the basics of communication, the concept phase, exhibition spaces, audience, the design phase, graphic design, and exhibition operation. In this part of the thesis, the theoretical approach is clarified and supported by literature.
Furthermore, interim uses and the combination of these with modern exhibition design are discussed and supported by expert opinions. The thesis also clarifies in theory whether contemporary exhibition design is plausible in interim utilisation. The practical part of the thesis then deals with the case study of the exhibition ‘Begegnung.’
The thesis covers all the necessary steps from curating the works and selecting the exhibition space to organising and dismantling the exhibition. This part of the work also deals graphically with the design issues and problems in order to finally set up a concrete plan. Visitors’ opinions were then analysed in a survey. Finally, the success of the exhibition is clarified with the theoretical and practical findings, and in the end, the question is answered whether contemporary exhibition design is possible for interim uses.
