Systemkraftwerk Murau

Initiated by Holzwelten Murau and Next Incubator, a mobile exhibition and workshop format was developed—designed by master’s students in the field of exhibition design.

What is the Murau Real-World Laboratory? What are the goals of the Murau System Power Plant? And what does this mean for the people in the region? These questions were addressed in the “Chain Reaction” workshop series, which took place at three locations in Murau. Initiated by Holzwelten Murau and Next Incubator, a mobile exhibition and workshop format was developed – designed by master’s students in the study track exhibition design.

The students developed a mobile, modular exhibition system that combines information, interaction, and dialogue. The aim was to make complex content relating to the Murau Real-World Laboratory and the system power plant understandable, accessible, and tangible.

The design theme of “chain reaction” runs through the entire format:
Every action has an effect. Small impulses can trigger big changes – especially when people start talking and thinking together.

A real-world laboratory to get involved in

The workshops provided information about the goals and background of the project and invited participants to get actively involved. Together, perspectives were developed, questions discussed, and new communication approaches worked out. Information boards, interactive elements, and moderated formats created low-threshold access to the topic of renewable energy and shaping the future.

The travelling exhibition was shown at the NaturLeseMuseum in Neumarkt, the technical college in Feistritz and the HLW/BORG Murau. The project was accompanied by Sigrid Bürstmayr.
