MoMo / Modular field station for peatlands

Peatlands management to support agricultural use in a changing landscape

The bachelor’s thesis MoMo develops a modular system that uses sensors and remote sensing to support farmers in sustainable land management.

Peatlands are key ecosystems for climate regulation, water management, and biodiversity conservation. However, centuries of drainage have turned many of them into major CO₂ emitters. The project “MoMo – Field Station for Peatlands” develops a modular system for monitoring water levels and site conditions. By combining field sensors with satellite and drone remote sensing, MoMo helps farmers better understand their land and supports a gradual transition toward wet land-use practices.
