Architect DI Bernhard Spies, BSc has been running his own practice, einsundert Architektur, since 2022.

In my free time: I do sport to take my mind off the daily grind at the office.
The coolest internship was: at Teynor Schmidt Architects in Ternitz – my colleagues became friends and I learnt an awful lot.
When I was little, I wanted to be a planner; today I’m an architect.
Here is where I spent my time after the lectures: In the studio or in the model-making workshop
Tell us what your job is, without telling us what your job is: I mainly wear black and drink at least 3 litres of coffee a day.
What you definitely learn in my study programme:Juggling lots of projects at the same time.
The best course was: Heritage conservation with Mr Alois Murnig, DI
This course was a challenge for me: Computer Science and Mathematics in the Bachelor’s programme
Useless knowledge? Photoshop is a powerful tool 😉

As a colleague and friend and I had long wanted to set up our own business, we seized the opportunity and launched einszuhundert Architektur in 2022. However, setting up your own business also means taking on various responsibilities – from office management and design and planning right through to business development. Being my own boss, tackling design challenges, and the planning work itself – these are the aspects of my job that I particularly enjoy. Unfortunately, the administrative work that goes with it tends to be rather tedious. Even whilst I was a student, I learnt to manage several projects at once – something that stands me in good stead today. It’s also important to have perseverance, but of course to enjoy your work too. Then success follows, such as the construction of a new office building with an adjoining production hall, which we oversaw from the planning stage right through to completion.
Looking ahead, we hope to grow the practice to a healthy size so that we can continue to take on exciting projects.
