“Festival of Humanity” – Place of encounter and exchange of information

„Fest der Menschlichkeit“ – Ort der Begegnung und des Informationsaustauschs

FH JOANNEUM was also present with an information stand, together with the International Relations Department and the initiative "People on the run - FH JOANNEUM helps", and was able to advise interested parties on a wide range of opportunities for education and training as well as support in the area of German as a foreign language.

At the very beginning of the great movement of refugees in 2015, FH JOANNEUM launched the initiative "People on the run - FH JOANNEUM helps", a wide range of projects that generated added value not only for refugees but for the entire university.

As in 2015, FH JOANNEUM has been doing everything in its power to actively support people in and from Ukraine since the war in Ukraine began in March 2022. Thanks to numerous donors (municipalities of Graz and Bad Gleichenberg, private individuals, companies, associations such as Rotary, Steiermark hilft, etc.) and supporters (FH JOANNEUM staff, students of ITAT at Karl Franzens University Graz, etc.), FH JOANNEUM has been able to offer more than 900 Ukrainians a place on 56 German courses at all three campuses!

Most of the course participants are now attending German courses at levels A2 to B2 in their third semester, and some would also like to start studying at FH JOANNEUM. In order to achieve the necessary B2 level, FH JOANNEUM will be offering the "German Language Competence Course“ from autumn 2023, which leads to the ÖSD B2 certificate in two semesters and gives applicants an insight into their future studies.

Menschen auf der Flucht - die FH JOANNEUM hilft" thanks the Initiative Steiermark hilft for the invitation to the Festival of Humanity!
