Cetus / Toilet

A toilet that is used in a squatting and sitting position.

Cetus is a toilet developed by Janik Döttlinger as part of his bachelor’s thesis. It promotes healthier bowel movements by enabling users to squat and facilitates self-examination of excrement for early detection of diseases.

Cetus is a toilet designed to improve the health, mobility and well-being of users. This is primarily achieved through the ability to defecate both sitting and squatting. Squatting helps to ensure that the bowel is fully opened and can therefore be emptied more easily. This reduces the risk of a stroke or other illnesses.

In addition, the toilet shape promotes the examination of the color, consistency and odor of excrement. The aim is to encourage sporadic, conscious or unconscious self-examination in order to be able to recognize possible warning signals from the body.
