Fin Grip / Stoma

Erik Gober developed ostomy and continence care solutions in cooperation with Convatec, USA, for his project work in the Industrial Design degree programme.

To ensure a proper fit, stoma base plates must be cut manually (with scissors) before each change. This work step requires practice and a lot of dexterity to achieve the best possible individual shape and is difficult for people with limited motor skills. With an ergonomically shaped punch device, this work step can be carried out comfortably and independently.

Its horizontal design means that the base plates can be “thrown in” from above, are automatically positioned correctly and can be gripped from all sides. The cutting dies are interchangeable and suitable for different base plates and manufacturers.
