The rise in the prevalence of the internet through smartphone technologies has influenced the way in which we live, work and spend our leisure time. Musicians now fulfill their musical visions differently than before, and also have access to numerous platforms which can help them find other musicians to cooperate with. According to a survey, more than 93% of musicians from different backgrounds are keen to collaborate with other musicians, but only 28% of them actually do so. One reason for this discrepancy is the fact that multiple tools are required for each step of this process: communicate, record audio, share files, and keep track of the entire process, to name only a few.

This master’s thesis looks at a variety of recently developed collaboration tools, provides an overview of this market, and identifies the deficiency which was previously overlooked: the lack of a convenient and dedicated service for musicians who wish to collaborate with each other and organize both their collaborative and personal projects.
