Profile

Kathrin Hofer-Fischanger has been working at FH JOANNEUM’s Institute for Health and Tourism Management in Bad Gleichenberg since 2013. She is a lecturer and certified project manager, organizational developer, adult education trainer, and health circle facilitator.

At the Institute of Health and Tourism Management at FH JOANNEUM, she leads applied research and evaluation projects on workplace health management as well as on promoting physical activity and active mobility in rural areas. She teaches in the areas of Workplace Health Management and Organizational Development, New Work and Life Balance, Research and Project Work I and II, Project Management Basics, Project Management in Practice, and Evaluation Research, and supervises bachelor’s and master’s theses in these subject areas. Kathrin Hofer-Fischanger has won several awards (FILIA Prize for Innovative Research and Teaching, Health Research Award) and has supervised multiple award-winning student theses (e.g., pma junior award, ÖGPH Early Career Award). She contributes her scientific expertise as a peer reviewer for journals and conferences (e.g., PLOS ONE, Springer, ÖGPH Conference) and as a judge for the Health Research Award.

Prior to that, she worked at the Red Cross Research Institute in Vienna, where she led projects in the areas of technology-assisted care and support as well as healthy aging, and collaborated on projects related to community health promotion in local neighborhoods. Kathrin Hofer-Fischanger studied Health Management and Health Promotion as well as Healthcare Management at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. She completed her doctoral studies at the University of Graz in 2022 with a dissertation on “Factors Influencing Active Mobility in Rural Areas.”
