Profile

Martin Gutzelnig-Pernold provides technical consulting and support at the Learning Design Lab (LDL), part of the LIT – Learning, Innovation & Technology department at FH JOANNEUM. Located in the campus library in Graz, the LDL supports faculty in the design, production and integration of digital learning media.

His work centres on the intersection of media production, higher education pedagogy and artificial intelligence. He designs and maintains the technical infrastructure for video-based teaching – including Smart Lightboard, Smart Monitor, podcast studio, teleprompter and professional three-point lighting – and administers the plagiarism detection software PlagAware. He also provides training and support for faculty using the lecture-capture platform Panopto.

In the field of AI-enhanced teaching, Martin Gutzelnig-Pernold evaluates and implements current tools and workflows and guides faculty in applying generative AI to content creation. As part of the continuing professional development programme for higher education teaching, he offers workshops on video production with Smart Monitor and Smart Lightboard as well as guided tours of the LDL, where faculty gain hands-on experience with lighting, teleprompter, podcast studio and camera and recording equipment.

Martin Gutzelnig-Pernold completed the Master’s programme in Public Communication at FH JOANNEUM in 2016 (thesis: Content Strategy). He is currently pursuing a four-semester programme in applied and artistic photography at the Prager Fotoschule alongside his professional role.
