What I did:
My primary role was to investigate the working materials used in collaboration with occupational safety, to assess the hazard category of these working materials based on safety data sheets and to define the relevant storage conditions. I was also responsible for documenting waste reports and supported the environmental officer in her workplace evaluations and preparatory work for the Environmental Statement 2014.
Why I enjoyed my internship:
Most of all, I enjoyed the opportunity to complete tasks independently, take part in workplace evaluations and work in a very open and friendly team.
What I learned
I was able to gain important information in the field of environmental management and occupational safety which will be very useful in my future professional life.
My biggest success / My greatest experience
My particular highlight was being involved with the preparatory work for the Environmental Statement 2014 because I was given the opportunity to incorporate my ideas and play an active role. Another highlight was the factory tour of the Mercedes Benz G Class production site which was very exciting and interesting
How I secured the internship
The environmental officer at the time was looking for an intern and contacted the head of our course with the request to advertise the vacancy to our year group. I took advantage of this immediately and applied for the post – with success!
What I want to do in the future
Working in environmental management really impressed me and it was clear to me that I wanted to continue to work in this sector in the future. I am currently a part-time intern at another renowned company in the environmental management field and I hope to integrate into the company and be able to work there after finishing my studies.
