Speech and Language Therapy Summer School (SLT) 2013

In August 2013, the Speech Language Therapy Summer School (SLT Summer School) took place at the Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece in Patras.
The focus was on the fields of ‘Communicative Participation’, ‘Problem Based Learning’, ‘Comorbidity’, ‘Emerging Issues and New Trends in SLT’ and ‘Professional Practice in Speech and Language Therapy’. Joint units were held in the mornings to ensure that everyone had the same basic knowledge and in the afternoons, various workshops were offered which could be selected according to interest.
There was also no shortage of activities outside of speech therapy such as a trip to Olympia, a city tour with the ‘host students’ and the sampling of some Greek dishes.
The week ended with presentations of the curricula from the individual countries in which the relevant training content and job descriptions were compared. For me personally, the most valuable experience was the opportunity to exchange views with other students.
