My study abroad semester at the University of Applied Sciences in Oulu in Finland.

Try it for yourself!
I would never have thought that I would end up in a place where, within a period of just four months, I could play beach volleyball by the sea and experience my toes almost freezing off at -20 degrees! When it was first suggested to me that I could spend a semester abroad, I initially wanted to go to Amsterdam or England. But in the end, I chose a country which I would not otherwise have visited, not even on holiday: Finland. The last few days before I left, I felt very sceptical and wondered if it might have been better to stay at home. Even when I got there, I was still not entirely convinced at first. But the first time I travelled to the beach in the bright sunshine with 20 students from all over the world, I knew I had made the right decision. I am normally not very easy to impress but when it comes to my semester abroad, I can honestly say: it was the best thing I have ever done in my life. Sunshine, beach, partying, reindeer, new friends from all over the world, sauna, mountains by the sea (Norway), Stockholm, partying, cooking together, learning lots of new things, Lapland, -25 degrees, swimming in the Arctic Ocean, three hours of sunshine per day, the Northern Lights and more partying! I could go on but to be honest, it’s hard to put it into words. You simply have to experience it for yourself.
