Key data

Job description: Interior designer
Company: Möbelbau Breitenthaler GmbH
I work in: Leibnitz
I've worked here since: 2016
Contact : hello@enalaviii.com
Web : https://www.enalaviii.com/, https://www.instagram.com/enalaviii/

What I do:

Furniture design and design of holistic interior design concepts in the field of living, object and gastronomy. Besides my job as an interior designer, I also work independently as a graphic designer with my label enalaviii.

Why I love my job:

  • The sparkle in the customers' eyes when they are thrilled with the designs.

  • The feeling of satisfaction that comes when you tinker with a design for a long time and then suddenly realize: "That's it!"

  • The emotional connection I build with my projects. There is heart and passion in every project.

Important skills in my job:

I think it is especially important to find strategies to be able to work creatively despite the time pressure.

My biggest accomplishment so far:

For me, it's always a highlight when a project is finally implemented after months of planning. When I see how step by step exactly this world comes into being that I had in mind for so long, it's an unbelievable feeling of happiness every time.

How I found my current job:

I applied on my own initiative. I think I was particularly convincing with my analog portfolio. In today's digital world, you immediately stand out and get the attention that is absolutely necessary for a speculative application.

What I learned for this job during my studies:

The wide range of content covered during the course gave me a good grounding in the expertise which is helping me to handle everyday situations in my job. In addition to the professional skills acquired, I was also able to hone my ability to quickly adapt to new situations and accept criticism.

Job prospects in my field:

My experience is that searching for interior design jobs in Graz is relatively difficult because, although there are lots of offices operating in the field, these tend to be smaller and take on few employees. But I think there are lots of opportunities to gain a foothold in the field across Austria as a whole.

I am:

  • detailed
  • attentive
  • curious

About my job:

Already during my studies I always liked to deal with the details like material, color and furnishing. That's why it was clear to me quite early on that I wanted to work as an interior designer. The love for details was also the reason why I decided to do another master in graphic design. This allowed me to hone my design skills even more specifically and further refine my design process. What I love most about my current job is that I get to design independently and work on innovative projects, as well as see my projects through from the first stroke to completion.

Creative work is not something you can learn overnight. It's a development process - also personally, to find your own design style - and that takes time.
