Thomas Höller, BSc MA

Graduate from eHealth and IT Law and Management.

Thomas Höller completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at FH JOANNEUM and has remained professionally connected to his alma mater.

What I studied:

💻 My job: Student advisor and project coordinator at FH JOANNEUM.

How to get in touch: LinkedIn, staff portrait

Me in three emojis: 👨‍💻 🌊 ⛰️

In my free time: you’ll find me at the (water) rescue or in the city park.

The coolest internship was: system administrator and software developer in the ICT department of the Red Cross Styria during my bachelor’s degree.

If I hadn’t studied eHealth, I would have applied again for information design.

The best food on campus: the canteen at Eggenberg

My favorite place on campus: the roof terrace on the third floor at Eggenberger Allee

This is how I celebrated my graduation: with friends in my house bar.

Tell us what your job is, without telling us what your job is: information all-rounder at the university of applied sciences.

If my studies were a movie, then it would be “Come, sweet death” (because the emergency services are actually financed by the kilometers driven by ambulance vehicles).

This is what you are guaranteed to learn in the master’s program: Time management

The best course in the master’s program was: Labor and Social Law

I had a bit of a struggle with this course: Computational Intelligence

Even if you get a lot of e-mails, read them all. Otherwise you might miss out on really cool additional offers and information.

At education fairs, Thomas advises prospective students on the wide range of courses offered by the university.

Thomas represents FH JOANNEUM at various events.

Thomas’ exhibition stands are eye-catching… 🙂

About my job

As a student counselling and project coordinator, I design and accompany the paths of future students. My job involves organising information events, advising prospective students in person and coordinating our department’s IT. It wasn’t a straightforward path to get here, but it worked out with my second application.

My time as a student gave me a deep understanding of how a UAS works and my involvement with the ÖH gave me valuable insights and taught me a lot about students’ rights. Balancing work and a part-time Master’s degree programme was quite exhausting, but I managed it thanks to good agreements with colleagues and lecturers regarding possible substitute work. What I love most about my working day today is the variety. I don’t just sit at my desk, I’m out and about a lot. There is also the strong team spirit, which makes even stressful times easier.

Above all, my job requires stamina, strong communication skills, a talent for improvisation and openness in dealing with people. At Austria’s largest education fair in 2025, “my” stand was honoured as “Best of Best”: that was a special moment. My next project is to set up a web shop for FH merchandise – the hoodies are particularly popular with students!
