Courses for staff

Winter term 2023/24

In the winter term 2023/24 we offer two English courses:

• 30.11.2023, 10:00-14:00: Let's Talk About... "Hot Topics". Effectively managing discussions on challenging topics: This seminar is aimed at those who are professionally involved in diverse communication and cultural diversity projects (level B1+). Registration by 16.11.2023.
• 31.01.2024, 09:00-17:00: Gaining Proficiency in English Academic Writing: This seminar is aimed at academics and people from all disciplines and sciences at language level B2+ who would like to present their scientific (research) results professionally and accurately in writing (in English). Registration by 17.01.2024.

Course trainer: Paul Nieman, B.A.A.: Since graduating with honours in Applied Media Arts from Ryerson Polytechnical University, Toronto, Canada, he has worked professionally in Software Engineering, Show Control and Production, and Film Animation in addition to teaching. After moving to Austria in 2012 his focus has primarily been as an affiliate English teacher with FH Joanneum in the departments LEB and IWV. As a Cambridge University certified instructor of English as a foreign language, he actively incorporates the value of critical thinking, cultural diversity, and the importance of effective communication in his classes as well as in the workshops he presents throughout the Austrian business community.
