The Music Machine project was presented by students during a two-hour workshop in Paris. The sound qualities of musical instruments are significantly influenced by the physical properties of the materials from which they are constructed. The “Music Machine” installation initially dealt with the materials of traditional instruments such as wood, metal and stone. Using code, electromechanical and digital elements, these materials were transformed into sound generators.
The project was supervised by Astrid Drechsler, lecturer in the Communication, Media, Sound and Interaction Design course, and Daniel Fabry, Head of the Institute of Design & Communication at FH JOANNEUM.
