C.Lab / Wooden Ski

Material from the past – technology from the present

Automatisch gespeicherter Entwurf 497

This work presents a high-performance wooden ski without synthetic fibers. By using 0.52 mm ash veneer and BIO-C epoxy resin in the ski core, reinforced through cross-lamination, torsional rigidity was enhanced. Three prototypes have been extensively tested and have delivered excellent results. The ski outperforms modern models without the use of fibreglass, carbon, or other synthetic materials. Particularly noteworthy are the positive environmental impacts due to the reduction of fossil materials and the promotion of sustainability throughout the entire life cycle. There is a high potential to lead the ski industry into a more sustainable future with the help of these innovations. The project is being further developed to optimize future ski constructions and pave the way for ecologically responsible skis.
