Many of today’s fashion illustrations are influenced by earlier styles. This master’s thesis provides an overview of the history of fashion illustration, with a focus on advertising. In the process, various analog and digital illustration techniques are investigated. Through a how‒to guide, the author takes us from the initial sketches to the finished artwork, and demonstrates how fashion illustration is used in visual communication. This thesis should serve both as an inspiration and a guide to fashion illustration. The illustrated techniques, tips and tricks are intended to serve as building blocks in order to develop your own style.
