What might everyday life look like in the year 2050, living with an artificial personality like the intelligent voice assistant Hunny? Science fiction shows us how new technologies can inspire the imagination of humanity. These stories often raise important questions regarding the use and impact of artificial intelligence. The focus on fictional scenarios offers the possibility to develop and discuss these questions, which could otherwise seem too abstract.

The aim of this master’s thesis is to investigate the development of Voice User Interfaces and to explore their potential future applications and the consequences potential future scenarios. The author explores both negative (dystopian) and positive (utopian) outcomes. To develop these scenarios and specific situations, speculative design methods as well as classical design methods are used.
