Based on opinions of renowned industry experts, this master’s thesis proposes hypotheses about current and upcoming developments in retail. After a historical journey through different marketplaces of the past, the author explains which challenges retailers face today as well as which approaches may be used to ensure a lasting role in the business landscape. Finally, a concept for a fictional eyewear store is used to explain the most promising technological, conceptual, and creative solutions.
