Tantje

Design Concept Awards for the Institute Industrial Design

Anna Marie Kotter’s bachelor’s thesis was honoured with the Design Concept Award 2024, which was presented as part of the Austrian State Prize for Design at the Museumsquartier in Vienna.

TANTJE is an interactive indoor gardening shelving system that makes it possible to grow various low-complexity crops at a working height adapted for children. The focus of the work was to provide children – regardless of their origin, their financial background or the eating behaviour of their families – with a basic building block for a general understanding of seasonal and regional nutrition.

Jury statement: Tantje enables (young) children to learn where food comes from, and which foods are seasonal. A small botanical garden that, with its innovative, creative approach, can teach young people how food should be handled.
