The menstrual app

The menstrual app for young women and couples with a migrant background.

Touching Knowledge (Copy) 1

Many women find it difficult to use menstrual apps. They hardly address the individual usage situation, and are nevertheless very complex to operate. Likewise, data is often collected pointlessly and used mainly by the owners of the app. In addition, young women (and men) with a migrant background often have a great need for education, since in traditional patriarchal family structures the topic of the period is associated with great shame.

The goal of this master’s thesis was to create an understandable and individually adaptable menstrual app for young women and couples with a migrant background in German–speaking countries. In doing so the intention is to contribute towards acceptance and education on the subject of menstruation. For the prototypical implementation the author used literature, as well as her own analyses of previous menstrual apps. Out of this, wireframes were created which are intended to provide the users with useful functions. The usability was tested with the help of click dummies.
