1. Semester

External Accounting | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031101 Basics of Accounting 2.5 SWS 5 ECTS
In this course, the students gain a basic understanding of accounting, especially regarding the system and function of bookkeeping. Excercies, functions, addressees and legal basics of bookkeeping, along with key terms and the detailed consideration of balance as a central element of bookkeeping will be discussed. Futhermore, accounting techniques will be shared and the basic elements of financial accounting and accounting records, as well as opening and closing statements will be introduced.
Legal Fundamentals | Lecture (VO) | Coursecode: l240031102 Corporate and Association Law 1 SWS 2 ECTS
The goal of the course is to convey the system of public economic law, as well as the determining factors of the economic activity of private and public stakeholders. Company law, trade law, business law, tax law and bankrupcy law will be discussed. Additionally, the structures, liability regulations (incl. GDPR) and disctinctive features of associations will be also conveyed. Questions regarding set-up, institutions, establishment and liquidations, as well as boundaries for corporations will be answered. Furthermore, students will gain an overview of the basic aspects of contractual law (declaration of intent, conclustion of a contract, right of representation, etc.).
Legal Fundamentals | Lecture (VO) | Coursecode: l240031103 Labor and Social Law in Sport 1 SWS 2 ECTS
The students will gain understanding of the Austrian labor and social law with a focus on the particularities of sports associations/federations. The participants will gain understanding about the employment possibilites in the association/federation (including voluntary positions) and their social insurance legal treatment.
Practical Functions in Sports Management 1 | Practical (PR) | Coursecode: l240031106 Practical Functions in Sports Management 1 0 SWS 2 ECTS
The students will gain practical experience in sports management through the use/application of the theoretical teaching content in the area of sports management in the association/federation or in another sports organization.
Public Relations and Marketing in Sports | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031104 Marketing in Sports 1 SWS 2 ECTS
The students will gain the fundamentals of strategic and operational marketing. The key terms will be discussed and the basic models and concepts of purchase behavior will be dealt with. Furthermore, the methods of marketing in general and the marketing mix (product, price, sales and communication policy) in detail will be focused on. In addition, the characteristics of marketing in sports will be debated.
Public Relations and Marketing in Sports | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031105 Public Relations and Lobbying 1 SWS 2 ECTS
The students will gain the fundamentals of public relations. Based on a PR concept, the focus will be on association/federation identity, as well as on internal and external communication (print media, social media, networking/lobbying, etc.). An explicit focus will be made on the characteristics of sport clubs/associations.
The Fundamentals of Scientific Writing | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031108 The Fundamentals of Scientific Writing 2.5 SWS 5 ECTS
The students will learn about concepts, distinctive elements, rules and main features of science and of scientific writing. The aim of research, the research process, diverse research methods, the development of research questions, as well as the development and structure of a scientific publication will be dealt with. Research strategies and information and literature procurement, along with critique of sources will also be covered. Furthermore, an awareness of intellectual property and plagiarism, along with rules of citation will be conveyed.
Trainer-specific Further Education 1 | Seminar (SE) | Coursecode: l240031107 Trainer Further Education 1 2 SWS 2.5 ECTS
The students will gain diverse trainer further education in individualized, specific theoretical expertise in the appropriate sport/discipline. The information relating to scientific publications dealt with during these events will be analyzed, discussed and presented in written format.

2. Semester

Finanzieng | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031201 Basics of Financing 2.5 SWS 5 ECTS
In this course, the central key topics from the field of investment and financing will be discussed. The content will cover the statistic and dynamic capital budgeting techniques and the various types of financing (external and internal financing, equity financing and financing with outside capital). Further details regarding determining capital requirements by means of liquidity planning will also be discussed.
Practical Functions in Sports Management 2 | Practical (PR) | Coursecode: l240031206 Practical Functions in Sports Management 2 0 SWS 2 ECTS
The students will gain practical experience in sports mangaement through the application/implementation of the theoretical teaching content in the area of sports management in an association/federation or in another sports organization.
Scientific Writing and Presentations | Practical (UE) | Coursecode: l240031209 Rhetoric and Presentation Techniques 1.5 SWS 2 ECTS
Students will learn about the fundamental communication concepts for presentations, as well as the basics of rhetoric. Based on target audience analyses, the students will learn how to develop a presentation/speech by maintaining interest, suspense and emotional connection with the listener. The pros and cons of the classic and modern presentation techniques will be discussed, and the use of presentation software will be practiced. Additionally, the basics of persuasive body language will be developed.
Scientific Writing and Presentations | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031208 Scientific Writing 1.5 SWS 3 ECTS
School-level writing competences will be developed step by step throughout the course in order to raise them to a scientific writing level. The students will learn about the unique characteristics of scientifc texts and their development (How do I choose my topic? How do I formulate a research question? How do I structure my thesis?, etc.). Additionally, stylistic questions and word choice will be taught, along with arguementation techniques and writing strategies.
Sports Law and Change Management | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031205 Change Management 1 SWS 2 ECTS
The students will gain an overview of the basic model of change mangement and the ideal steps in a change proposal. They will learn about the different phases and challenges (location designation, stakeholder analysis and development of a communication concept, development of vision and long-term strategies, design of change-architects, dealing with resistance, leadership in change, etc.), along with becoming familiar with the related methods of processing.
Sports Law and Change Management | Lecture (VO) | Coursecode: l240031204 Sports Law 1 SWS 2 ECTS
The students will gain an understanding of the Austrian labor and social law with a focus on the particularities of sports associations/federations. The participants will gain an understanding concerning the employment possibilites in the association/federation (including voluntary positions) and their social insurance legal treatment. With regards to this, students will become familiar with the legal aspects of liability, compensation for damages and insurance. Students will also learn about the legal fundamentals of the trainer function within and outside the structure of the association/federation. Furthermore, the topics of legal issues regarding sexual violence/assault, dealing with minors, doping, etc. will be dealt with within the course content.
Sports Sponsorship and Sports Finance Models | Lecture (VO) | Coursecode: l240031203 Sports Materials handling in Austria 1 SWS 2 ECTS
The students gain knowledge about the financing of amateur and professional sports in Austria. Based on the knowledge of the exercies and the responsibility of diverse organizations, the sponsorship options will be demonstrated and sponsorship proposals will be shown. Furthermore, financing structures and controlling mechanisms from national and international organizations will be presented and discussed. Additionally, the financing options for sports projects will be dealt with.
Sports Sponsorship and Sports Finance Models | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031202 Sports Sponsoring and Alternative Forms of Financing 1 SWS 2 ECTS
During this course, the students will learn about the various types of sports sponsoring (event, personal, and venue sponsoring), as well will get to know the limitations of other types of sponsoring (cultural, media and public sponsoring). Additionally, alternative types of financing such as fundraising and patronage will be discussed. Furthermore, the use of promotion in sports, along with media rights and licences will be discussed.

The students will gain diverse trainer further education in individualized, specific theoretical expertise in the appropriate sport/discipline. The information relating to scientific publications dealt with during these events will be analyzed, discussed and presented in written format.

3. Semester

Controlling | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031301 The Fundamentals of Financial Controlling 2.5 SWS 5 ECTS
In this course, the students will gain knowledge about the fundamentals of financial controlling. Included are internal accounting (cost accounting and performance analysis), the diverse controlling instruments (i.e. cost and quality management) and basic knowledge of systems for planning, information and controlling. A particular emphasis will be placed on decision-making in companies and the demands for rationality and coordination.
Leadership and Human Resources Management | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031303 Human Resources Management 1 SWS 2 ECTS
Students will acquire skills and knowledge in central areas of human resource management, including personnel development, salary and bonus systems and personnel administration. Furthermore, the functions and fields of action of the human resources manager are explained. The students will be familiarised with the course content by means of practical case studies.
Leadership and Human Resources Management | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031302 Leadership 1 SWS 2 ECTS
Students will acquire skills and knowledge in key areas of leadership, including leadership requirements, leadership concepts and leadership styles. In this context, the students are introduced to the course content by means of practical case studies.
Practical Functions in Sports Management 3 | Practical (PR) | Coursecode: l240031306 Practical Sports Management Functions 3 0 SWS 2 ECTS
The students will gain practical experience in sports management through the use/application of the theoretical teaching content in the area of sports management in the association/federation or in another sports organization.
Project and Event Management | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031305 Event Management 1 SWS 2 ECTS
During the course, the students will gain the theoretical fundamentals for event management. The topics of planning, implementation and post-processing of the event will be discussed, along with questions about event saftey and event insurance and financing concepts (subsidies, event sponsoring, crowdfunding, etc.). Additionally, the topic of challenges in the practical implementation of events will be dealt with.
Project and Event Management | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031304 Project Management 1 SWS 2 ECTS
The students will gain understanding of project management according to the guidelines of Projektmanagement Austria (PMA). Theoretical fundamentals of project management will be discussed and knowledge about types of projects, organization forms, success factors of projects, the project management process (initiation phase, planning phase, realization phase, completion phase), roles and functions in the project, project management instruments (project structure plan, milestones plan, resources plan, etc.), leadership and teamwork in projects, management of project opportunities and risks will be dealt with.
Statistics and Research Methods | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031308 Statistics and Research Methods 2.5 SWS 5 ECTS
Upon completing the course, the students will have gained understanding of the fundamentals of statistics, as well as the main research methods and techniques. They will learn about the key terms in statistics and about various qualitative and quantitative research methods. The students will gain understanding about key statistical testing methods, along with the ability to critically interpret the results. Furthermore, the statistical analysts will broaden their knowledge with use of statistics software.

4. Semester

Association and Sports Facility Management | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031401 Association and Federation Management 1 SWS 2 ECTS
The students will gain fundamental knowledge of the general business management and organization, as well as detailed understanding of the organization, structure and management of sports associations/federations (in Austria). Additionally, specific management competences will be discussed, which are necessary for the leadership/management of associations/federations in a modern service-providing organization. A special focus of the course will be on portraying ethical aspects of management of sports associations/federations.
Association and Sports Facility Management | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031403 Athlete Management 0.5 SWS 1 ECTS
Students are taught the basics of managing individual athletes. Based on a holistic view of counselling and support, brand building (athlete as brand), awareness, attractiveness and affinity of individual athletes are explained. Furthermore, the relationship of athletes to the media as well as advertising and the market value of athletes are discussed. In addition, the activities of athletic advisors are taught.
Association and Sports Facility Management | Lecture/Practical (IL) | Coursecode: l240031402 Sports Facility Management 0.5 SWS 1 ECTS
After the introduction into the basic terminology of the sports facility construction, the students will gain from both theoretical and practical examples knowledge about the establishment of sports facilities. Additionally, the aspects of commercial and technical management, along with the space management of sports facilities will be discussed. Furthermore, relevant insurance and liability aspects regarding the use of sports facilities will be key topics of the course.
Master Thesis and Master Exam | Modul/Final Examination (FA) | Coursecode: l240031406 Master Exam 0 SWS 1.5 ECTS
The students will prepare for and complete the Master's examination. The Master's examination consists of the presentation of the results of the Master's thesis followed by a general discussion with the examination committee as well as oral examinations of freely selectable topics from the fields of sports management and training science.

The students develop a master thesis according to relevant discipline-specific, scientific criteria.

The students will be accompanied technically and scientifically during the process of writing their master thesis, as well as during the creation of the exposé. The discipline-specific competences, as well as the scientific abilities and skills will be developed.
