Sustainable and energy efficient building

Designing modern buildings for the benefit of people and the environment means:

  • infrastructure without compromising on environmental protection,
  • modern buildings with innovative designs,
  • revitalisation and renovation of existing buildings,
  • energy efficient buildings with a focus on sustainable building materials,
  • innovative strategies for residential building,
  • modular construction,
  • modern architecture in the context of existing structures and
  • accessible construction.

The Institute, which is part of the Department of Building, Energy & Society, sets out to tackle these challenges in the fields of

  • socio-ecological urban and regional development,
  • lifecycle-based building design,
  • glass construction and
  • wood building and design.
Collaboration opportunities
  • Collaboration with partners in research contracts or funded research projects
  • Exploration of research questions as part of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses

Specialised and development studies and research projects are prepared in collaboration with local authorities, city councils and private contractors in the business sector and are published in specialist journals.

“We apply our specialist expertise to train our students in integrated construction following an interdisciplinary approach and provide them with the latest expertise they need to enter the world of work.”
