Bonbonniere 3

The third edition of the alumni:ae magazine Bonbonniere was published on May 20, 2025. Once again, seven alumni:ae of the Institute of Design & Communication at FH JOANNEUM were interviewed about their professional careers.

This year’s issue was designed by Information Design students IND23 (2nd semester) in the subject of Order-Oriented Design under the direction of Cora Akdogan.

In this third issue of our Alumni:ae magazine you will find the following seven CVs:

The creative heart of information design graduate Tihomir Tadic has always beaten for UI/UX design. He emigrated to Canada many years ago and worked as User Experience Lead at CampBrain for over ten years. In 2022, Tadic moved to WorkTango, where he now works as Principal Product Designer for a company specializing in employee experience.

Independent graphic designer Verena Bachernegg ‘s great passion lies in packaging design and analog design, where she regularly realizes projects. Together with her friend Valentina Grabner, she organizes the format “Ladies, Wine & Design” by Jessica Walsh in Graz. Their aim is to establish and continuously expand a strong creative network for women – and the two of them are extremely successful at it!

Valentina Grabner, co-organizer of the “Ladies, Wine & Design” format and graduate of the Communication Design Master’s degree course, was already drawn to the USA during her internship. She work currently mainly active in the areas of branding as well as book and editorial design.

Long-term customer relationships are of great importance to user experience and user interface designer Wolfgang Bartelme. They enable him to develop a deep understanding of the product and the customer’s needs. As a freelancer, he successfully runs his own company, StepsApp, and is increasingly taking on the role of design lead in larger projects with customers all over the world.

Graduate Ricarda Musil describes herself as a graphic designer with a passion for paper, craftsmanship, typography, print finishing and sustainable design. About eight years ago, she set up her own agency, BRANDED, together with her partner. Musil teaches marketing and design at the Ortweinschule and passes on her in-depth knowledge to young creatives.

In his daily work, filmmaker and information design alumni Christian Zmolnig-Kermer particularly appreciates sitting in the editing room, editing films and always looking at the material from a new perspective. For example, he took part in the great documentary “Welcome to Sodom”, which dealt with what was then the largest electronic waste dump in the world in Ghana.

Information Design graduate Verena Artinger is Head of UX Design at the online platform willhaben. She enthusiastically leads a team of four people – three designers and one researcher – and is responsible for developing new concepts, conducting experiments, creating prototypes and testing the implementation together with the developers.
