R.E.D. / Autonomous system for tunnel fires
Diploma thesis on the topic of safety in tunnels
R.E.D. is an autonomous system for fighting tunnel fires. The robot is installed on a rail high on the tunnel wall or ceiling in order to be quickly at the source of the fire unhindered by wedged cars. The fire can thus be fought directly at its source and at an early stage. Video images are transmitted to the operations centre and the rescue or evacuation of the tunnel users is initiated.
