The program was moderated by Astrid Drechsler, head of the Master’s study track Sound Design, and Wolfgang Kühnelt, FH JOANNEUM lecturer in Journalism and Public Relations (PR).
Author and senior lecturer Orhan Kipcak spoke about short audio pieces that were created in a collaboration between students from the Institute of Language Arts at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and our Sound Design students.
Two social design projects developed by our sound design students were then presented:

🎧Soundtracks of Charity” (Caritas Audioguide)
Guest: Bernhard Sundl, Head of Department at Caritas Styria.
A special highlight was the discussion with Denis Hürter, Audio Lead at ACB Stories in Berlin, who reported on his 20 years of experience in the audio industry – both from a technical and creative perspective.
Composer Peter Kaizar and Elisabeth Zimmermann from Ö1 gave insights into the radio play production and sound design of the play “Demeter und das Licht”.
Lilly Jagl from Radio Helsinki presented the topic “Sound as Resistance – Acoustic Uprisings and Silent Revolt” in her lecture.
The crowning finale was the concert performance “Difference:ism” by Hannah Albrecht, Anna Semmelrath, Mahtab Jafarzadeh-Miandehi and Francisco Sylla [AT].
At the end of the listening day, Alois Sontacchi, Head of the Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics at KUG, and Daniel Fabry, Head of the Institute for Design and Communication, thanked all participants and guests.
