The “Walkable Knittelfeld Friendship Book” opened its pages to all friends of Knittelfeld and, as part of a participatory project, sought stories, impressions, and facts about the town. Where is the most romantic spot for a cuddle? And what sound pulses through the streets of our city? A friendship book, traditionally an intimate collection of personal dedications, drawings, and poems, now becomes a stage for the entire city. From hidden treasures to the most everyday moments – every detail helps to capture the unique flair and character of Knittelfeld.
As a highlight, this collective collection was exhibited in an interactive, walkable friendship book that revitalized a vacant space in the center of Knittelfeld during “Communication24.”
The project was an initiative by Birgit Bachler, head of the “Information Design” programme at the Institute of Design and Communication at FH JOANNEUM, who has roots in Knittelfeld, and was realized with Sigrid Bürstmayr.
