WoodC.A.R. MAN COMMUTER BUS / Forschungsprojekt

For the first time ever, the Institute of Product & Transportation Design is participating in the international research project Wood C.A.R. (Computer-Aided Research). The aim of this project is to increase the use of wood as a lightweight construction material in vehicle construction.

Many commuters spend more than fifty minutes in their cars each day. The MAN Commuter Concept makes a meaningful use of this lost travel time possible: in an „Office on Wheels“ (company-sponsored), up to 29 employees can work while commuting. The ambience of the autonomous bus is divided into three areas — the conference area, the working area and the lounge — which are geared entirely to the individual needs and requirements of the passengers. The gentle colour and material combination and the open interior design create a warm, inviting ambience. The small space is optimally used with customizable solutions.
