Internships

Our students complete a practical internship each semester, spending a total of 52 weeks in different sectors. At the hospital, they work in the delivery room, outpatient clinic and postnatal ward. They also work with freelance midwives. The aim of these internships is to link theory and practice to ensure that our students are well-equipped to handle all areas of the midwifery profession.

Some internships have to be completed in Styria, for example at the regional hospitals in Graz, Deutschlandsberg, Feldbach, Hartberg, Judenburg or Bruck an der Mur. Our students can also spend additional internships elsewhere in Austria or abroad. Students are required to organise and finance their own catering and accommodation –sometimes the hospitals offer official lodgings. There is currently no financial compensation available for compulsory internships.

Before our students start their internships, they train and try out applications and methods at our skills lab. The course also has access to a fully equipped training practice.
