Do I meet the admission requirements?
German is the language of instruction. Knowledge of the German language is thus an essential prerequisite (at least Level B2).
Qualification for university entrance
You can apply for the programme if you have completed
- a secondary academic or vocational school,
- a vocational matriculation exam or
- an apprenticeship diploma plus upper secondary certificate
Qualification course for university entrance
You must complete the following subjects
* Mathematics 2,
* Physics 1 and
* English 2
Tip: If you have completed a relevant technical college (HTL) you may be admitted directly to the second semester after completion of your military or civilian service. If you have any questions please contact the programme head:
You have no university entrance qualification
If you have no secondary school leaving or vocational matriculation certificate you need
- a university entrance qualification exam or
- a relevant professional qualification plus additional exams
- You need to provide evidence that you have passed the relevant exams until the start of studies.
Qualification course for university entrance
You must complete the following subjects
- Mathematics 2,
- Physics 1 and
- English 2
Qualification courses for university entrance are offered, for example, by the University of Graz, Graz University of Technology and by other universities and educational institutions.
Relevant professional qualifications plus additional examinations
Relevant professional qualifications include
- a completed apprenticeship, e.g. in the following fields:
- Chemistry / plastic
- Electrical engineering / electronics
- Wood / paper / glass / ceramics
- Computer science / IT / communication technology
- Food / beverages / nutrition
- Machinery / vehicles / metal
- Science / mathematics
- Paper production / paper processing / printing
- Transport / traffic / warehousing
- Environment / energy / raw materials
or
- completion of a vocational school, e.g.:
- Weapon engineering
- Chemistry
- Chemical engineering
- Computer and communication engineering
- Data processing
- Electronics
- Electrical engineering
- Precision engineering
- Aviation engineering, glass engineering
- Timber industry and sawing technology
- Mechanical engineering
- Mechatronics
- Microelectronics
- Reproduction and printing
- Textile chemistry
- Textile engineering
- Carpentry
- Watchmaking
You must complete the following subjects:
- Essay on a general topic (German),
- Mathematics 2,
- Physics 1 and
- English 2
You can take these examinations as part of the qualification course for university entrance at FH JOANNEUM. The two-semester course is organised on a part-time basis and is free of charge. If your place is confirmed you may also take specific additional exams at FH JOANNEUM.
