A complementary internship is required to ensure the practically relevant nature of the education programme is maintained, which lasts one semester of study (net: min. 12 weeks, or 425 hours). The working conditions are to be agreed individually between the students and the companies in question, are then subject to an approval process by the study programme, and usually last between four and maximum six months. Personally working on one or several projects in a company outside of the study programme is supposed to lead students towards tasks, which correspond to the typical issues that graduate industrial engineers will have to tackle in their daily professions.
