Student Projects

Practical projects form a central part of the training on the co-op Bachelor’s degree programme in Computer Science. Students apply their knowledge of programming, software development, web technologies, databases, IT infrastructure, cloud computing, AI and IT security directly to real-world tasks. Through the close link between their studies and the business world, they develop not only technical skills but also an understanding of business efficiency, teamwork, project management, communication and solution-oriented working.

In the first two semesters, students at FH JOANNEUM acquire the common foundations of computer science. From the third semester onwards, theoretical phases at the university alternate with practical phases at partner companies. There, students contribute to subject-specific tasks and can immediately apply what they have learnt during their studies in a professional setting. In addition, formats such as Barcamp, Bootcamp, Hackathon, Startup Project and programme-specific project work strengthen practical problem-solving skills.

The co-op study programme enables students to gain valuable professional experience at an early stage and to build contacts with companies. This can lead to topics for project work or the Bachelor’s thesis, internship opportunities, job offers or a direct entry into the workforce. In this way, the degree programme becomes the ideal combination of sound computer science education and practical IT experience.
